After shoulder surgery, Sam Jacobsak spent weeks awake — unable to lie on his back, his side, or even sit comfortably in a recliner. His sling wasn't built for sleep. No pillow on the market was. So he turned to his physical therapist, Mike Scaduto, and together they set out to build what didn't exist: a sleep-positioning system that actually protects the shoulder during recovery.
What started as a hand-cut, hot-glued prototype is now a patented medical device recommended by 300+ surgeons and physical therapists, named Forbes' #1 pillow for shoulder recovery, and trusted by 25,000 patients across the country.

Why You Need a Wedge Pillow After Shoulder Surgery
Why You Need One
After shoulder surgery, lying completely flat puts direct pressure on your healing shoulder and makes it difficult to breathe comfortably with your arm elevated. A wedge pillow lets you sleep at an incline — your torso is propped up, your shoulder stays in a safer position, and you stop fighting gravity all night.
When You Need It
Most patients need a wedge starting on night one of recovery. Your surgeon may actually recommend sleeping upright for the first several weeks, and a wedge is what makes that possible in your own bed — instead of being stuck in a recliner for a month.
How Long You'll Use It
Typically 4–8 weeks, depending on your procedure. Most patients use a wedge throughout the immobilization phase, then gradually transition back to flat sleeping once their surgeon gives the go-ahead.
Stop Waking Up in Pain
See why regular pillows fail shoulder recovery patients.
- Stacked bed pillows collapse and shift overnight, forcing you to wake up and readjust your position
- A single flat wedge locks you into one fixed angle for the entire recovery
- Sleeping in a recliner isolates you from your bedroom and is hard to get in and out of post-surgery
- Nothing prevents you from sliding down during the night, causing you to wake up in an unsupported position
- Using multiple mismatched pillows leaves your head, shoulders, and legs unsupported and misaligned
- Firm foam holds every piece firmly in place all night — no sliding, no readjusting
- Two adjustable incline wedges let you gradually reduce your elevation as recovery progresses
- Sleep in your own bed with full-body support — easier to get in and out of safely
- Dedicated knee wedge anchors your body in position so you stay supported all night
- One complete system supports your head, upper body, and legs in perfect alignment

What are the 4 pieces and how do they configure together?
The system includes two interchangeable incline wedges that stack or separate to create your preferred elevation angle, one knee wedge that sits under your knees to prevent sliding down during the night, and one headrest pillow for neck and head support. Together they create a fully supported, customized sleep position from head to knee.
What are the dimensions of each piece?
70cmx40cm - just have this now and we will measure later on
What are the recommended configurations for shoulder recovery vs. general use?
Start at maximum incline for the first few nights post-surgery while inflammation and throbbing are at their peak. As symptoms calm down and comfort improves, gradually lower the incline angle over time until you can comfortably return to sleeping flat again.
Is this meant to replace the Standard Wedge Pillow or complement it?
The 4-Piece System is the deluxe option — it offers more customization, adjustability, and full-body support than the Standard Wedge Pillow, making it the premium choice for patients who want greater control over their recovery sleep position.
What materials are used (foam type, cover material)?
Built with a combination of memory foam and high-resilience (HR) foam — memory foam for pressure-relieving comfort and HR foam for structural support and durability.
